Background Screening

FCRA-Compliant Background Checks, Conducted Before Every Hire

We conduct comprehensive background checks on every applicant through a third-party screening provider operating in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act. This is not a simple name-and-address search — it is a thorough multi-database investigation into criminal history, identity, and professional status.

National Criminal Database Search

Records from all 50 states cross-referenced against national criminal databases for felonies and serious misdemeanors.

Sex Offender Registry Check

National and state-level sex offender registry verification across all jurisdictions where the applicant has lived or worked.

County Courthouse Records

Direct courthouse searches in all counties where the applicant has resided in the past 7 years, capturing records not always in national databases.

Renewed Every 12 Months

Background checks are not a one-time event. Every active professional is re-screened annually — no exceptions.

Insurance certificate and liability coverage documentation

Insurance Requirements

$1 Million Minimum Liability Coverage — Verified Directly

We do not accept self-reported insurance documents. Every professional's coverage is verified directly with their insurance carrier by our compliance team. We call the broker, confirm the policy number, and validate coverage limits and expiration dates — then we list Bliss Pool Service as a certificate holder.

This means that if an incident occurs during a service visit, you have a documented chain of accountability — not a verbal assurance from someone who may or may not actually be insured.

Minimum $1M General Liability

Property damage, bodily injury, and service errors all covered under the professional's active policy.

Bliss Listed as Certificate Holder

Our compliance team is notified by the carrier of any changes, cancellations, or lapses — not just at renewal.

Immediate Suspension for Lapse

Any lapse in coverage — even for a single day — results in immediate service suspension until coverage is confirmed reinstated.

Professional Standards

What Every Bliss Professional Must Demonstrate

Beyond background checks and insurance, every Bliss professional must meet technical and professional competency standards before receiving their first client assignment.

Water Chemistry Competency

Demonstrated ability to test, interpret, and correct water chemistry parameters including pH, chlorine levels, alkalinity, CYA, and calcium hardness using calibrated digital equipment.

Equipment Knowledge

Understanding of pool pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, salt chlorinators, and plumbing — including the ability to identify warning signs that require professional repair.

Safety Protocol Compliance

Chemical handling, storage, and disposal procedures aligned with OSHA and EPA guidelines. All professionals are trained in chemical safety and emergency response.

Service Documentation

Every professional must be proficient in our digital service reporting platform — completing detailed visit reports accurately and within the required 2-hour post-service window.

Client Communication Standards

Professionals are evaluated on responsiveness, professionalism, and how they communicate service findings and recommendations to homeowners.

Reference Verification

Professional references from previous pool service clients are contacted and verified. Fabricated or non-contactable references result in immediate disqualification.

Continuous Oversight

Vetting Approves Them. Oversight Keeps Them Accountable.

Passing our vetting process grants access to the Bliss network. Staying in the network requires maintaining the standard every single visit, every single week.

Post-Visit Customer Ratings

Every service visit is rated by the customer on a structured rubric covering punctuality, quality of work, communication, and report completeness. These ratings are aggregated and reviewed at the network level — not just filed away.

Performance Trend Analysis

Our compliance team monitors each professional's ratings, report submission rates, on-time service record, and customer feedback trends on an ongoing basis. Declining metrics trigger proactive outreach and review before problems escalate.

Annual Credential Re-Verification

Background checks, insurance coverage, and any required licenses are re-verified at the 12-month mark for every active professional. Failure to maintain standards results in suspension or permanent removal from the network.

Dedicated Support and Issue Resolution

Every reported issue enters a structured resolution workflow. Our support team commits to an initial response within 4 business hours and a resolution plan within 48 hours. All interactions are documented and retained in your service record.

Common Questions

Liability and Protection — Answered

Every Bliss professional carries a minimum of $1 million in general liability insurance. If damage occurs during a service visit, we initiate a claim coordination process — connecting you with the professional's insurer and documenting the incident. Bliss acts as the accountability layer, not a bystander.
All active Bliss professionals are required to carry their own general liability coverage, which typically includes coverage for bodily injury occurring during service operations. Because we verify this coverage directly with the carrier, you are protected from the liability exposure that comes with hiring an uninsured contractor.
Every active Bliss professional has passed our vetting process and is listed in our network under their verified identity. Before each visit, you receive a confirmation that includes the professional's name and photo — matching the identity we have on file.
You rate your professional after every visit. If a visit falls below standard, report it through the platform or contact our support team. We will follow up with the professional, and if the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, we will arrange a replacement professional for your next service at no additional cost.
We verify insurance at onboarding and annually at renewal. We are also listed as a certificate holder, which means the carrier must notify us of any policy cancellation or lapse. Upon notification of any lapse, the professional is immediately suspended from active service.
